bookshelf inspiration

These are our built-in bookshelves, which I love, but am having a hard time getting to look right. The shelves are deep, which leaves a lot of space to fill, and makes my book collection look minuscule. I'm in need of inspiration for sprucing them up.

too soon

After coming across these fabulous red flocked trees in Paris last year, I haven't been able to stop thinking about them. Our current artificial tree is on it's last leg, so it seems fitting that we start with a new tree this year, in our new house, to commemorate our unforgettable trip.

I know it's early, but I've already started the search for the right one. Here are some red options & other fun trees I've found so far. If you're going to go faux, go all the way.

Prelit Slim Ashley Tree - Red

Rudolph the Red Christmas Tree

Blinded by the White Snow Pine

Cashmere Tree Blue

Flocked Alpine

Little Miss Sunshine Yellow Christmas Tree

Pre-Lit Fantasy Silver Tree

All of this Christmas thinking also brought about the realization that we don't have a mantel to hang our stockings from (hmm...).

I can't get enough.

ez

After seeing Jeannie's fabulous Eva Zeisel prints, I had to learn more about the 104 year old artist.

And, I had to have something Eva for our house.

Checkout the reusable sandwich & snack bags from LunchSkins!

A much greener alternative to those nasty ziplock bags. And, prettier too! Yum!

weekend haps

It's been a cozy rainy weekend & I'm sad to see it coming to an end (sad face).

We've been doing a lot of eating out, a little bit of shopping, & a lot of relaxing. But, we also accomplished a few things, including replacing the entryway light fixture (yay!).

BeforeAfter
Welcome home

I also received a few treasures from my grandfather that I found special places for.

This adorable Lladro goose now lives on our hutch in the dining room.

These vintage opera glasses with beautiful cases now live on our entryway table. I'm debating whether they should be displayed as they are above, so the cases can be seen...

...Or, turned around like this, with the eyes pointing out. Thoughts?

Snuggle time!

yes?

I've admired the Edison Chandelier from PB for several years now & it just dawned on me that I might finally have a place for it!

What do we think about the Edison in place of the fan in our MBR? Kind of awesome?

house crashing

I received an email from my good friend Jeannie with photos of her recently spruced-up office & couldn't resist sharing.

Art: Limited Edition Eva Zeisel Lovers' II Prints (wow)
Cabinet: Ikea (nice contrast & lots of storage)
Chairs: Limited Edition Carl Wegner Wishbone Chair (to-die)
Paint: I need to know so I can paint my walls this color
Adorable pup: Ginger (so cute!)

It goes without saying that the rest of Jeannie's home is equally as amazing & includes the rest of an unbelievable art & furniture collection.

And, this guy! Boomer wanted to say hello too.

Thanks for letting us crash, Jeannie!

duh

After weeks and months of wondering what to hang in the bathroom other than art, I come across this photo (via Decorpad) & a light bulb goes off in my head - shelves! Um, hello. I love the idea of floating shelves above the toilette.

die.

Always one of my favorites, Chris Benz does it again with his Spring collection, inspired by an American in Paris, circa 1960s.
